Basic Admissions Information

Admissions Term Fall quarter admission only.
GRE GRE general test required.
GRE Subject Test GRE subject test not required.
TOEFL or IELTS Exam The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is required for international applicants whose native language is not English and who have not studied full-time for one uninterruped year at a university-level institution in a country where English is the official language.

Writing Sample Also Required

Provide at least one writing sample (e.g., term papers) of no more than 30 pages. Applicants may submit a paper copy to the department address or send e-mail attachment (.pdf or Word files only) to taitchis@ucsd.edu.
Specific Program Requirements *Masters degree may be awarded to doctoral students after fulfillment of the appropriate requirements.
