| Statement of Purpose Requirements |
Accepts only the online Statement of Purpose 800 word limit Statement of Purpose should include the following:
- Your research interests (if you are interested in a concentration you should also include a short statement explaining your intellectual and career interests in the field).
- Relevant preparation for graduate study in Latin American Studies (coursework, research experiences, or field work)
- Career goals after obtaining your M.A.
- Which aspects of the UCSD Latin American Studies program make us a good match for your main interests and professional goals?

Students may choose to specialize in Sociology, History, International Migration, or Gender Studies or Cultural Studies but it is not required. |

Students applying for one of the specializations must tailor their statement of purpose so that it reflects their research interests in that field. Students choose their specialization by selecting it from the drop down menu when applying to the program on the UCSD graduate online application. |
